Business Representative

The IT Business Representative Manager (BRM or ITBR) is the user representative or application expert that connects clients and the IT unit. The ITBR manager plays a critical role in the success of any development project or system maintenance process, and enables the organization to improve its productivity and achieve its goals.

Join us to learn how to implement the BRM function quickly and efficiently, his responsibilities and interfaces with IT, the tools required for the BRM to perform his role effectively, how to improve and streamline the involvement of the BRM in management and prioritization, organizational requirements, building an annual work plan, involvement in characterization, performance tracking, managing and prioritizing changes, active participation in tests, error analysis, approval of transfer to production, support in implementing systems, investigation and lessons learned, and more.

The workshop covers a broad range of issues, including:

  • understanding the Business Representative Manager’s role and involvement in the lifecycle of the project: initiation, requirement definition, development, tests, training and implementation, piloting, transfer to production, operation and maintenance;
  • improving and streamlining the process of defining requirements: introduction to requirement engineering, the requirement lifecycle, prioritization, guidelines for effective writing (and proper syntax) of the requirement, preparing requirements for Agile projects, practice writing and wording the requirements according to the organization’s standard requirement form, change and exception management;
  • improving and streamlining the planning process and implementing acceptance tests: introduction to software testing, types of tests, the testing lifecycle, the difference and the relationship between system and user tests, guidelines for writing effective testing scenarios, methods for implementing user tests, tips for documenting results and tracking errors, approvals required to conclude the process;
  • transferable subjects and skills: risk management, cost estimation, alternative analysis, executing projects using external contractors, tracking planning vs. execution, business contribution KPIs, reviews and discussions, team work, and bridging the gap between business requirements and technological constraints.

Participants will receive a free “Smart” Excel file for managing the requirement portfolio and projects, which is part of MethodA 12
